
The Cartagena City Council is promoting the live broadcast of this race of more than 50 kilometers on Youtube, with around 5,000 participants.
The Ruta de las Fortalezas de Cartagena will distribute its race numbers this Friday at the Plaza Cartagenas del Mundo in the port. It will be the first event that can be watched live from anywhere in the world. The Cartagena City Council is driving the broadcast of this race organized by the Spanish Navy.

The race will start at the Plaza Héroes de Cavite y Santiago de Cuba this Saturday, April 5, at 8:00 am, after the hoisting of the national flag. The first runners are expected to reach the finish line at the Escuela de Infantería de Marina (Tentegorra) starting from 11:30 am. The race, with a route of over 50 kilometers in its longest version, will continue until 8:50 pm. The award ceremony will take place at 4:30 pm, next to the finish line.
Around 5,000 participants from all over the country will take part in the 14th edition of this mountain race that goes through iconic places in Cartagena, such as the Castillos de Galeras, Atalayas, Cerro de la Concepción, Sierra Gorda, the Roman Archaeological Park of Molinete, and the Punic Wall.
On Friday afternoon, the children’s race will take place. The starting point is at 6:30 pm in the vicinity of the Plaza Héroes de Cavite y Santiago de Cuba. This event will require the closure of traffic from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Paseo de Alfonso XII, next to the port of Cartagena.
There will be a free bus service (Line 3) and parking available at the Palacio de Deportes for participants and their companions. The buses will run from 6:30 am to 7:15 am on Saturday, taking them to the starting point at Paseo de Alfonso XII, next to the port of Cartagena. The race finishes at the Escuela de Infantería de Marina in Tentegorra, from where participants can easily reach the parking lot of Palacio de Deportes. There will also be continuous free bus services connecting the finish line with the Palacio de Deportes from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Additionally, Line 3 of the bus service will be free all day (Tentegorra stop), passing through locations like Canteras, Sebastián Feringán, Escudo, Jorge Juan, Mandarache, Capitanes Ripoll, or Puertas de San José. To ensure a smooth transportation service on the day of the Ruta de las Fortalezas, the Cartagena City Council has exempted taxi drivers from mandatory rest periods. This measure was taken at the request of the most representative association of the sector. Taxi drivers will be exempted from mandatory rest from 8:00 pm on April 5 to 7:00 am on April 6, and for future events, from 8:00 pm on July 4 to 7:00 am on July 6, and from 8:00 pm on December 30 to 7:00 am on December 31, while still complying with the relevant regulations and labor laws.
A consignment service will be available for participants in the General Test, Half Route Test, and Youth Test. The consignment service location is next to the entrance gate of the former Naval Instruction Barracks (next to the UPCT entrance).
