Cartagena Puerto de Culturas’ summer program includes a variety of activities for all audiences, such as guided tours, exhibitions, concerts, children’s musicals, and boat rides, as reported by municipal sources in a press release.
Until October 5th, the Castillo de la Concepción will host the exhibition ‘Los Viajes de Leonardo’, featuring over a hundred pieces including inventions and replica paintings. The entrance fee is 6 euros, reduced to 4.5 euros for Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas members.
The guided tour ‘Cartagena bajo la Legión Cóndor’ will allow participants to discover how civilians and military personnel were protected in air-raid shelters during the Civil War. This activity, which includes a tour of the Refugio Museum and the Military History Museum, will take place on Mondays in July and August and on September 1st, priced at 14 euros, 12 euros for reduced tickets, and 7 for club members.
Another guided tour, ‘De Leonardo a Vitruvio. El arte de medir la belleza’, will reveal the presence of the golden ratio in the architectural heritage. The tour, which includes the panoramic elevator, the Castillo de la Concepción, and the Teatro Romano Museum, can be enjoyed on Tuesdays and Fridays in July and August, and on September 2nd and 5th, with prices of 16 euros for individual tickets, 14 euros for reduced tickets, and 8 euros for members.
‘Isaac Peral, el inventor y el mar’ offers a guided tour to introduce participants to the distinguished figure of the Cartagena native, as well as the city’s defensive systems and the bay on a boat ride. It will take place on Wednesdays in July and August and on September 3rd, priced at 16 euros, 14 for reduced admission, and 8 for club members.
A guided tour will transport participants from ‘Ciudadanos de un imperio’ to the daily life of Carthago Nova, ancient Roman Cartagena. It will be held on Thursdays in July and August and on September 4th, starting from the Teatro Romano Museum. Ticket prices are 16 euros (individual), 14 euros (reduced), and 8 euros (members).
Additionally, the visit ‘Del teatro al pórtico tras la escena’ can be enjoyed on Sundays in July, August, and September at 10:30 a.m., priced at 7 euros –free for Cartagena Puerto de Culturas members–.
FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES
The children’s musical ‘Princesas y piratas en el Fuerte de Navidad’ includes a tour on the tourist boat and through the Fort of Navidad. It will take place on July 19th and 26th and every Saturday in August, departing from the old rowing club. The price is 18 euros.
In ‘Escipión vs Aníbal. La batalla continúa’, children will be part of a troop or legion and celebrate victory at the Teatro Romano in Cartagena. It will be held on Saturdays in September at 11:00 a.m., with tickets priced at 4 euros.
The fun continues with the theatricalized children’s visit ‘La Gioconda y Leonardo. ¡Atrapados en el tiempo!’, where kids can participate in a fascinating journey on Fridays in July and August. Starting from the panoramic elevator, tickets cost 15 euros.
‘El códice secreto de Leonardo’ offers families an ‘escape room’ experience with ingenious tests inspired by the inventions, codes, and enigmas of the Renaissance genius. It will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in July and August, costing 10 euros.
Similarly, ‘Theatrum: pasa una tarde de teatro’ will allow families to explore Roman society through theater. Held on Thursdays and Saturdays in July and August at 6:00 p.m., tickets are priced at 4 euros.
VIRTUAL REALITY
Cartagena Puerto de Culturas offers ‘La máquina del tiempo’, a guided tour with virtual reality at the Museo del Teatro Romano on Wednesdays and Fridays in July and August. Individual entrance fee is 12 euros, reduced to 10 euros.
Visitors can also experience a guided tour with virtual reality at the Museo del Foro Romano on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August, at the same price as the previous activity.
NIGHTTIME VISITS
Various activities can be enjoyed during the night. One of them, ‘El molinete bajo las estrellas’, is a guided tour through the buildings of the Barrio del Foro and the Acrópolis del Molinete. It will take place on Fridays in July and August and on September 5th at 9:00 p.m. The cost is 12 euros, reduced to 6 euros for Cartagena Puerto de Culturas club members.
‘El teatro bajo la luz de la luna’ offers a nighttime guided tour of the most emblematic work commissioned by Augustus in old Carthago Nova. Available on June 28th, July 12th and 26th, August 9th and 23rd, and September 6th and 20th, with the same price as the previous one.
The renowned Roman architect Vitruvius will present his vision of the Teatro Romano in ‘Aulaeum, abajo el telón’, a theatricalized visit on June 21st, July 5th and 19th, August 2nd, 16th and 30th, and September 13th and 27th, priced at 18 euros.
Sea lovers can also enjoy a boat ride to watch the sunset, accompanied by live music from singer Laura Russin. Available on Thursdays in July (17th, 24th, and 31st) and every August, for 15 euros –8 for Cartagena Puerto de Culturas club members–.
‘Cluedo en el castillo. La última cena de Da Vinci’ will offer attendees a special dinner where they will take part in a live Cluedo inspired by ‘The Last Supper’, Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting. Scheduled for June 13th and September 6th and 12th.
CONCERTS AT THE FORT
The Conciertos del Fuerte, which include a sunset boat ride from the Escala Real port to the Fort of Navidad followed by a concert, will feature ‘La Frontera’ on July 11th and ‘Javier Ojeda, Danza Invisible’ on July 12th this summer. Entrance fee is 50 euros.
