The director general of Impulse to Commerce, Business Innovation and Crafts and Crafts Industries, Rafael Gómez, along with the president of Ruralmur, José Antonio Lucas, during the presentation of the new digital application.
The regional government has promoted, in collaboration with the Ruralmur Association, the development of a mobile application to connect tourism and local crafts in the Region of Murcia.
In particular, the Ministry of Business, Employment and Social Economy, through the Directorate General for Impulse to Commerce, Business Innovation and Crafts and Crafts Industries, and the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia (Itrem) have supported the launch of ‘Descubre la Región de Murcia’, a travel app, available on IOS and Android, aimed at visitors and residents that includes a careful selection of tourist and cultural resources in the Region of Murcia.
The Regional Crafts Center of Murcia hosted the presentation of this application this morning, which represents a milestone in the digitization of the cultural, tourist, and craft offer of the Region. Among its functionalities, guided tours, historical sites, gastronomic and leisure proposals are included, as well as a section specially dedicated to the regional crafts sector.
«This application represents a firm step towards the digitization of the regional craft sector and allows us to bring the cultural and creative wealth of our artisans to a wider audience, in an accessible and innovative way,» explained the director general of the sector, Rafael Gómez.
In this sense, the application has a specific category of ‘Crafts of the Region of Murcia’, which allows users to discover the latest developments in the sector, access a directory of artisans by municipalities, and locate workshops, markets, and stores through geolocation. In addition, some professionals have enabled the option of electronic sales, making it easier to make direct purchases from the mobile device itself. «The app becomes a digital showcase for artisans to display and market their products, connecting directly with the end customer and promoting a more authentic and sustainable tourism.»
On the other hand, the information included in the application has been developed based on data provided by artisans registered in the Crafts Registry of the Region of Murcia who have requested it, as well as the contents of the Regional Crafts Centers. Currently, 209 artisans from 34 municipalities are already integrated, although the platform remains open for new additions.
This digital tool represents a significant advance in promoting the intangible heritage of the Region, while boosting the visibility of the craft sector as an essential part of its cultural identity. «Investing in tools like this helps us to revitalize the local productive fabric, strengthen proximity, and preserve our traditions with a future-oriented approach,» concluded Gómez.
