The contracting board of the Cartagena City Council has awarded Jumabeda and Talnamadi companies with just over 598,000 euros for the construction of the new Los Dolores Barracks, framed within the Cartagena 2024-2025 Works and Deputations Plan, funded by the Autonomous Community with a 10-month execution period.

The goal is for the population of Los Dolores to have modern and accessible facilities, ensuring the entry and circulation of people with reduced mobility and communication so that, as mentioned by the Councilor of the Area of Citizen Security, José Ramón Llorca, «in addition to strengthening security in this important area of Cartagena, improve the police’s response capacity to any incident, improving citizen attention, and facilitating efficient surveillance and close police presence.»

The new police facilities, located between La Vía and Río Narcea streets, have an area of 300 square meters, on a single ground floor where the areas of public service, police personnel work, and retention zones will be distributed.

This is an action included in the municipal strategy to increase investment in security in Cartagena throughout the legislature. In addition to the new Los Dolores Barracks, the works of Cuesta Blanca are nearing completion, located at the old service station in the town, and this project will be added to the drafting of the project for the new police facilities in La Aljorra.

Furthermore, the network of surveillance cameras in neighborhoods and deputations is being reinforced with wireless IP cameras, for the application of artificial intelligence in traffic control, surveillance of heritage and tourist sites, and the improvement of the municipality’s mobility, which will be monitored from the Security Park Control Room.
