Cartagena will celebrate the next Saturday, May 17, the XVII edition of The Night of the Museums, which will feature a record program with over 200 cultural activities, 2,060 spots in routes and guided tours (500 more than the previous year) and a significant increase in proposals aimed at children, with 30 activities specially designed for the youngest.

The mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, presented the program on Thursday, May 8 at an event held at the Castle of La Concepción, an emblematic space in the city that has recently improved its accessibility «and that will regain the daily social life it once had when we recover the restaurant, whose project is already underway,» she recalled.

Officials and directors of the more than 60 participating museums and spaces attended the event, as well as artists and collaborators, including Juan Miguel Sánchez Nieto, author of the official poster for this edition, under the motto «The Future of Museums in Communities in constant change.»

The mayor emphasized the commitment to innovation and inclusion. The program includes for the first time emblematic spaces such as the Regional Assembly, the Captaincy Palace, and the ONCE headquarters, and stands out for its accessible approach, with adapted visits for people with visual and intellectual disabilities, supported by a volunteer team deployed in over 250 information points.

The cultural offer includes immersive experiences like The Journey of Moby Dick, a traveling large-scale show with light, sound, and fireworks that will traverse the city center, from Plaza del Icue to the port esplanade. In the streets and squares, there will also be performances of dance, magic, gladiator fights, concerts, parades, and the fireworks display that closes the night.

Additionally, exhibitions will be presented such as the display by Juan Miguel Sánchez Nieto, whose poster symbolizes the cultural heritage and citizen participation.

In her speech, the mayor also highlighted the effort to attract a young audience, with workshops on drones, nanotechnology, and astronomy, as well as special transportation, extended hours on urban lines, and programming in English for international visitors.
