The City Council of Cartagena has launched an ambitious asphalt plan for the month of March, with the aim of improving the road network in various neighborhood councils and districts of the municipality. The actions, totaling an investment of over 240,000 euros, began at the end of February and will continue throughout March.

The work started in the El Albujón Neighborhood Council, where the pavement of various streets is being renewed, including Avenida de Joaquín Conesa, San Lucas, Ermita de San Juan Bautista, Carretera Tramo de Unión, and Calle Martillo. Taking advantage of the Carnival holiday, work is being carried out on streets adjacent to schools to minimize inconvenience to residents.

During the week from March 3 to 7, milling and asphalt work will be carried out on the Rosa de Jericó and Rosa de Damasco streets, also in El Albujón.

Subsequently, asphalt work will begin on main roads such as Avenida Juan Carlos I in Los Dolores, La Asomada road, and Avenida Víctor Beltré.

This action adds to the already completed work in the Isla Plana-La Azohía Neighborhood Council, where the pavement of Plaza Juan Paredes, the parking lot of Playa Cuartel, and several streets in La Azohía have been improved. Likewise, work has been completed to improve the asphalt in the Veinte Casas Street of Los Barreros, where water supply connections have also been renovated and surface drainage improved.

As explained by the government councilor, Ignacio Jaúdenes, «this is one of the major actions to be carried out this year in Los Barreros. We want it to be an accessible, modern, and safe neighborhood, which is why we are going to invest a significant amount of budget in this area with a significant population, and we are going to do everything hand in hand with the residents, as community participation is essential.»

«With this asphalt plan, we aim to enhance the safety and comfort of Cartagena residents,» stated Jaúdenes. «We are working to renew the pavement of the streets and roads in our municipality, investing in infrastructure that enhances the quality of life of our citizens.»
