The City Council of Cartagena, through the Local Development and Employment Agency (ADLE) and the Department of Commerce, has promoted the renewal of the collaboration agreement with the INCYDE Foundation for the implementation of a new edition of the «Emprende y Avanza Cartagena» project, an initiative that has shown excellent results in previous editions, contributing to the strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the promotion of local commerce.

Last year, Cartagena, through the INCYDE program, supported 17 entrepreneurs with mature business projects who, with the «Emprende y Avanza Cartagena» program, received the necessary training and support to consolidate their start-ups.

This joint program with INCYDE has provided participants not only with quality training but also with the necessary support to turn their ideas into solid and sustainable businesses.

Thanks to this collaboration, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+) within the framework of the State Program for Employment, Education, Training, and Social Economy, two specialized training programs will be developed, in line with the strategic axes set by the New Industries Training Table and the demands of the Cartagena commerce sector. Thus, the training will focus on cybersecurity and the improvement and modernization of retail and proximity commerce. Both are designed to reinforce competitiveness and support new entrepreneurs in their process of digitization and growth.

The agreement, valid until December 31, 2025, includes a total budget of 86,856 euros, of which 60% will be financed by the INCYDE Foundation through European funds, while the City Council will contribute the remaining 40% directly, through the budget allocations of ADLE and the Commerce Service.

The planned actions include specialized training, personalized mentoring, thematic sessions, and individualized follow-up of participants, who will preferably be unemployed individuals with an entrepreneurial vocation. The objective is to offer them useful tools to develop their business projects in strategic sectors such as digital transformation, data protection, or the revitalization of local commerce.

With this initiative, as explained by the Training Councilor, lvaro Valds,, «we reinforce the municipal government’s commitment to entrepreneurship, training, and modernization of local commerce, aligning with European policies that focus on digital transformation and proximity economy as drivers for economic and social development; but also – and this is very important – we address the needs expressed by Cartagena’s productive sector at the New Industries Table.»

In this sense, the Commerce Councilor, Beln Romero, has explained that the objective being worked on from her department for the promotion of proximity commerce is twofold, «on one hand, we are promoting dynamization actions to enhance our commerce and its product, and on the other hand, we are providing tools for the training and updating of our businesses, so that they gain in competitiveness and the customer experience is increasingly better.»
