CARTAGENA (MURCIA), 3 (EUROPA PRESS)
The La Mar de Músicas festival, held in Cartagena, is already present in the streets of the city’s historic center. Fifteen days before the event’s inauguration, residents and visitors will be able to see the posters featuring the artists who will perform at the 30th edition of the event, which will feature a special dedication to South Korea from July 18 to 26, as reported by municipal sources in a press release.
In addition to the activities scheduled in parallel sections, such as La Mar de Cine, La Mar de Letras, or La Mar de Arte, the festival will host 44 concerts featuring artists from around the world such as Natalia Lafourcade, Silvia Pérez Cruz, along with Salvador Sobral, Queralt Lahoz, La Tania, Le Parody, Tarta Relena, Carlos Ares, Dereck V. Bulcke, Ortiga, or Sanguijuelas del Guadiana.
Three of the young artists who best represent the current new flamenco scene will also be present: Yerai Cortés, Ángeles Toledano, and María Terremoto. In addition, the musicians from Murcia, Maestro Espada, will receive the Paco Martín Award for the breakthrough group in global music. Representing Cartagena itself will be El Klan de los Dedeté, celebrating their 30th anniversary, and Río Viré.
Tickets for the opening on July 18 with Natalia Lafourcade and Queralt Lahoz are already sold out, as well as other concerts such as those of Guitarricadelafuente, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, or Valeria Castro.
The festival’s parallel activities will kick off on July 9 at 10:00 p.m. with La Mar de Cine, which will screen Parasite, the winner of the Oscar for Best Picture in 2020. This section, organized by the City Council and the Cartagena International Film Festival, will showcase a selection of the best Korean cinema until July 16, with a daily screening, free of charge.
On the other hand, La Mar de Letras will bring recognized authors of Korean literature to Cartagena, such as Bora Chung, Kim Ho-yeon, Bae Suah, and Cheon Myeong-kwan. The initiative, taking place from July 14 to 22, will provide an insight into the culture of the Asian country, through the voices of new Korean narrative.
