En contraste, Ortuño aseguró that the regional government continues to allocate funds for road improvements in the municipality, as evidenced by «the investment effort in renewing the RM-531, which connects Alguazas with Campos del Rio.» This project will entail a total regional investment of 7 million euros.
The section closest to the municipality is currently being executed, with an investment of almost 1.7 million euros added to the 1.4 million euros previously invested in the same road. The central section is currently affected by the works of the Arco Noroeste and will not be able to be carried out until this action is completed, as it would be damaged by the state works.
Similarly, the RM-533 road between Alguazas and Archena will also undergo maintenance works on a 4-kilometer section, thanks to an approximate investment of 200,000 euros.
As for the current Plan of Works and Services, Ortuño highlighted that this tool of the Community for the urban development of municipalities allocates more than 265,000 euros to Alguazas, representing a 24 percent increase compared to the previous Plan. This investment has been allocated by the City Council for the rehabilitation of the sports facilities in the Constitution park, specifically for the construction of a new pool for outdoor swimming.
Likewise, the councilor mentioned that the aid allocated by the regional government to the Local Police of Alguazas has increased by 36.5 percent, reaching almost 300,000 euros to cover the costs of the staff, improve the technical means of the Local Police, and acquire a vehicle to ensure safety in the rural areas of the municipality.
Improvements in educational centers
In the field of education, Ortuño pointed out that «the regional government has invested almost 240,000 euros in improving various education centers over the last few years.»
Among other actions, the facades and roofs of the Villa de Alguazas Institute were repaired; windows were replaced and a kindergarten classroom was created at the Monte Anaor School, and the heating system was renewed and the bathrooms were improved at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen School. Additionally, at this same school, works are planned for a new Early Childhood Education classroom during the summer, with a budget close to 100,000 euros.
Regarding the development of Vocational Training, the councilor emphasized that the Villa de Alguazas Institute recently added Pharmacy and Parapharmacy studies, and this academic year has launched studies in Microcomputer Systems and Networks.
In terms of health, Ortuño stated that «we continue to demand that the Spanish Government, together with the Alguazas City Council, address the shortage of doctors in Spain once and for all.»
