Cartagena hosts various musical performances this weekend, from the concert of the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra to the production Morricone and 100 years of cinema at the El Batel auditorium from March 13 to 16. The Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center and the Teatro Circo Apolo de El Algar have scheduled different theatrical performances, including children’s proposals like The Little Mermaid this Saturday at Luzzy.

Additionally, the Juan XXIII square is the venue for the IV Fair of Entities of People with Disabilities, titled ‘Inclusions’, taking place from March 14 to 18. Around a hundred activities and workshops for all audiences will be held in this space, open from 10 am to 2 pm, and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Furthermore, Cultura Cercana, the initiative developed by the City Council, continues to carry out activities in the neighborhoods and districts of Cartagena; just like the exhibition halls in the city showcase artistic exhibitions that can be visited free of charge.

FRIDAY, March 14

Inclusions Fair, at Juan XXIII square, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Cartagena celebrates its IV Fair of Entities of People with Disabilities until March 18, featuring a variety of activities, including sports tests, magic shows, inclusive theater, live music, and a live demonstration by the Cartagena sculptor Juan José Quirós. Free entry.

Music. Concert by the groups Fonoporta and Teeth!, at 7:00 pm, at Cuesta de la Baronesa. The Alternative Free Time program T-LA, promoted by the Cartagena City Council’s Youth Department, launches «Sinvergüenzas en el Chester,» a new initiative that will bring the local emerging music scene to intimate and special corners of the municipality. Music. III Concert of the OSRM Symphonic Cycle, at 8:00 pm, at the El Batel auditorium. The Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the French maestro Sylvain Gasanón, will perform a repertoire of which he is a true specialist, Ravel and Franck. Cinema. Screening of ‘Los destellos’, at 8:00 pm, at Luzzy. The FICCmoteca presents the film by Pilar Palomero, which tells the story of Isabel, who takes an unexpected turn when her daughter Madalen asks her to visit Ramón regularly, who is ill. After fifteen years away from her ex-husband, resentments that she thought were overcome begin to resurface. Free entry, subject to capacity.

Comedy. Ortega’s nights, at 9:30 pm, at El Batel. Juan Carlos Ortega with this entertaining show that includes his unique phone calls, video projections, and well-known characters like Marco Antonio Aguirre, among others. Theater. ‘Too many women?’, at 9:30 pm, at the Teatro Circo Apolo de El Algar. Two actresses, in the premiere of their first play, face the conflicts, doubts, and fears they are going through in their dressing room. Bike Trial. International City of Cartagena Trophy, starting at 8:30 am, at the Los Camachos Circuit. Around 200 cyclists, including the top 15 trial riders in the world from countries like England, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, will gather for this event. Free entry, subject to capacity.

Family activity ‘Festum Romae’, at 11:30 am, Departure from Plaza Juan XXIII. This proposal is a circus tale where the scenery turns 180 degrees to make the spectator an accomplice and witness to the tasks, routines, and games that occupy the protagonist. It is a display of circus techniques and humor performed by a single character.

Music. Percussion auditions in the ‘Between Strings and Metals’ competition, at 12:00 pm, at the Cartagena Conservatory. The regional competition promoted by the City Council celebrates the first phase of its 27th edition. Free entry, subject to capacity.

Family show in English. ‘The Little Mermaid’, at 12:30 pm, at El Luzzy. This is the traditional story of the little mermaid, adapted and dramatized by Meghan Lowey of Arena Teatro. In this way, the youngest ones can learn English and enjoy theater in an artistic, creative, and participatory environment. Recommended for ages 4 and up, tickets at 4€ on www.cultura.cartagena.es

Musical show. Saturday Night Disco, at 8:00 pm, at El Batel. The production is based on the musical movement of the Studio 54 disco in New York, through the radio program Saturday Night Disco, the most important station in the city of skyscrapers. A show with songs that changed trends, styles, and fashions worldwide, from Barry White, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Tina Charles to Bee Gees. Theater Route to the Portico after the scene, at 11 am, at the Roman Theater Museum. An opportunity to discover the Roman Theater and the latest discoveries in the site, a pictorial panel of Mars and the remains of the western portico, a space accessed after passing through the alley of La Soledad. Additionally, the winter T-LA program offers a wide range of activities to enjoy over the weekend. In several of them, prior registration is required. Likewise, the little ones can enjoy family activities at public libraries and other cultural spaces.
