Arroyo has highlighted that the Technical University of Cartagena is a benchmark in the practical application of research and technology to the business fabric, which will allow for «consolidating, deepening, and expanding the transfer of knowledge between the university and the companies in the Region.» According to the mayor, «technological transfer is not new to UPCT, but now it will be systematized to generate a much stronger impact that reinforces the growth of our entire business ecosystem.»

Fernando López Miras, who has praised the leadership of rector Mathieu Kessler at UPCT, has emphasized the importance of «transforming ‘knowledge’ into ‘action’ to improve people’s lives; and if there is a place where turning knowledge into a tangible reality is possible, it is in Cartagena,» he emphasized.

During his speech, the rector of UPCT explained that the name of the initiative, UPCTconneCT, «reflects a reality, that the Technical University is an entity very connected to its environment,» but it is also a declaration of intentions, «as we want to have a greater impact.»
