Half a hundred municipal employees of the Cartagena City Council have received from the mayor Noelia Arroyo and council members a plaque in recognition of their work at the City Hall during a farewell ceremony held this Wednesday, May 21, at the City Hall. As usual, the event has served as a prelude to the celebrations of the patron saint of Cartagena municipal officials, Santa Rita, which the municipal staff commemorates this Friday as a holiday, so the City Council will not be open to the public.
The mayor has thanked the work carried out by these public servants at the City Hall, most of whom had decades of service: «We especially appreciate the dedication, service, and commitment of these individuals who started with paper and, through their work, have helped us in the digital transformation to make the City Council more accessible and useful for citizens.» This recognition has also been joined by the deputy mayor and councilor for Personnel, José Ramón Llorca, as well as spokespersons from the municipal groups Jesús Giménez, Gonzalo López, Ana Belén Castejón, and deputy spokesperson Pedro Contreras.
These honored public employees have left the local administration, mostly due to age, over the past year. Among them are maintenance personnel, contract inspectors, laborers, administrative staff, local police, firefighters, general administration technicians, among other positions.
The Cartagena City Council has several selection processes underway to incorporate new public employees. At the beginning of the month, around 600 people took exams to become municipal technicians. Among them are architects, archaeologists, psychologists, technical engineers, and others. The public job announcements can be consulted online through the new Selecta CT web portal.
