The mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, has held a working meeting with representatives of the promoters Urbincasa and Grupo Roca to learn in detail about the residential plan that both companies have projected in the port area, next to the Santa Lucía Hospital and the future City of Justice.

During the meeting, the mayor highlighted the good understanding between the City Council and the promoters, who expressed their intention to immediately start the necessary procedures to obtain the license required for the advancement of the project that will contribute to the urban expansion of the eastern area of the municipality.

During the meeting, Arroyo emphasized the importance of actions that promote the orderly growth of the city. «Our priority is to facilitate access to housing for the people of Cartagena, and this development will help expand the residential offer with criteria of quality and sustainability,» stated the municipal authority.

Taking advantage of the meeting, the mayor also recalled other actions that the City Council is undertaking in urban planning for the economic and social growth of Cartagena. This includes the recovery of historic and strategic spaces such as the batteries of Santa Florentina, San Leandro, and San Isidoro, near Urbincasa’s new project, which aims to integrate heritage and urban development in the city’s transformation. Additionally, she positively assessed the interest of the Port Authority of Cartagena in revitalizing the neighborhood of Santa Lucía as an open enclave to the sea, with privileged views of the port and a vocation to become a new urban meeting point.

On the other hand, Francisco José Cervantes Tous, general director of Urbincasa, thanked the institutional support for the project and highlighted the choice of the location for the future residential area, «which coincides in time with other key projects for the development of the area: the coastal remodeling, the enhancement of the coastal batteries, the entrance to Cartagena from the East, and the large area of facilities that includes the hospital, the security park, and the future City of Justice.»

What Urbincasa and Grupo Roca have presented includes the construction of between 280 and 300 houses, which will respond to the increasing demand for modern housing in Cartagena. This is an ambitious initiative framed within a shared vision of the city, based on sustainable development, urban regeneration, and the improvement of the quality of life for citizens.
