Courses and workshops in humanities, visual arts, or performing arts are offered by the Universidad Popular in Cartagena.

The University Popular de Cartagena� has announced its educational offer that will start from the next month of October and will have a total of 81 courses and workshops for the 2025/2026 academic year, covering various areas such as humanities, visual arts, performing arts, traditions of Cartagena, among others. Interested parties can enroll on the days July 7 and 9, depending on the training they wish to register for, starting at 9:00 a.m. at www.up.cartagena.es

As in previous years, the courses are divided into two modalities: those that will take place from October to May and the modular or quarterly modality, i.e., from October to December. In total, for the year 2025, the University Popular de Cartagena offers 1100 spots for these training programs.

The Councilor of Culture, Ignacio J�udenes, has explained that it is «a dynamic educational offer that seeks to respond to current trends and the learning needs, generating spaces for training and exchange of experiences that contribute to improving the quality of life and personal development of the participants»

PROGRAMMING BY AREAS

�

In the Training area, there is a continuation of the offer of Sapere Aude, dare to know, training in Art, Language and Literature, Anglo-Saxon Culture and History and Geography, which for this 2025/2026 course will focus on the 19th century and will be complemented by cultural activities such as talks, routes, or film screenings.

�

The course in Art History, entitled Goya engraver, will address the figure of Goya, an artist of contemporaneity. On the other hand, the Languages area incorporates the Spanish-German conversation course, as well as different levels of English and German.

�

The Humanities area presents several novelties, such as the courses Cartagena: architecture and city, where participants can learn more about the municipality through its Architecture and Urbanism. Also, Overcome the fear of public speaking has been scheduled, where participants can acquire the minimum tools to prepare and practice a public speech.

�

There will also be Letter Bazaars, creative writing workshops, and a deepening of knowledge about Egyptian culture by learning about the society and its ways of life.

�

The University Popular continues with the DigitaliCT program with the aim of training all citizens to navigate current digital environments. As well as photography at different levels and the specialization course in Landscape Photography.

�

In the Visual Arts area, the University Popular offers courses led by professionals in artistic disciplines such as painting and drawing, sculpture, illustration, engraving, or ceramics, highlighting novelties such as the course in Artistic expression through calligraphy, Ceramic collage or the Introduction to intaglio engraving. Artisanry is also present in the programming with 23 courses, most of them decentralized in neighborhoods and districts.

Enthusiasts of the performing arts will have a wide range of options including Cinef�rum, Theater, Tango, Singing, Choir, Gospel Choir, and Folk with the course Poetry became a song, where the cultural and emotional value of musicalized poetry will be recognized.

In the Health and Well-being area, interested parties will be able to acquire basic knowledge of nutrition, as they will learn to recognize the foods that help us improve our health with the course Nutrition and healthy habits.

�

Also, with the aim of preserving the Traditions and Popular Culture of Cartagena, new editions of the courses in Traditional Dance, Bobbin Lace, Esparto, and Cartagenero Gold Embroidery have been scheduled, a textile technique used especially in the Holy Week of the municipality.
