The fourth edition of the Rock Imperium festival in Cartagena came to an end on Sunday, June 29th at the venue located on the Batel hill, with more than 50,000 people attending over the four days of the event. International artists such as Scorpions, The Cult, and Till Lindemann thrilled the thousands of visitors who enjoyed rock and metal this weekend in the municipality.
The event, sponsored by the Cartagena City Council, welcomed thousands of national and international fans of this musical genre, from Europe, including countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Norway, and the Netherlands, as well as visitors from Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Canada, Chile, and Japan, among others. This influx of public generated an economic impact of 15 million euros for the municipality and recorded hotel occupancy rates above 90%, as reported by municipal sources in a press release.
One of the most special moments of the event occurred on Friday with the concert by Scorpions, the legendary band celebrating 60 years of musical career. Tens of thousands of people enjoyed the return of the German band to Cartagena, following their performance in 2022 during the first edition of the Cartagena festival.
The concert was attended by the Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the President of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, who confirmed that there will be a fifth edition of the festival in Cartagena in 2026.
Throughout the four days of the festival, attendees were able to enjoy over a hundred concerts on the two main stages. Artists like Blind Guardian, In Flames, Stryper, and Airbourne also performed in this fourth edition of the Rock Imperium Festival.
Once again, the Cartagena City Council actively collaborated in the organization of the festival, with a municipal investment of 200,000 euros in sponsorship, in addition to the coordination work of various municipal areas. To ensure the safety and smooth running of the event, a reinforcement of over 650 personnel was planned, including Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Firefighters, and Port Police.
Additionally, a specific transportation system with shuttle buses and free parking was implemented to facilitate access to the venue throughout the event, which also featured a violet point, organized by the Equality Department of the City Council.
