Cartagena exhibited today, Monday, May 12, at the 2025 International Defense and Security Fair of Spain (FEINDEF) its technological maturity and the innovative potential of its defense-specialized business ecosystem. The institutional and business delegation from Cartagena, led by Mayor Noelia Arroyo, highlighted the strategic role that the city plays in this field.

«Cartagena’s presence at FEINDEF confirms that our municipality has a specialized dual technology business ecosystem ready to participate in the modernization of our defense. Thanks to the CAETRA program, we are strengthening these capabilities to establish ourselves as a European reference in dual technological development. We are a solid and mature project with the ability to grow and take advantage of the investments that Europe has decided to make to ensure our defense autonomy,» stated Mayor Noelia Arroyo during the inauguration, presided over by Marisa López, Counselor of Business, Employment, and Economy.

Arroyo pointed out that this maturity is reflected in projects such as the first defense-specialized commercial accelerator in Spain that supports local companies, ten of which were recognized on this day for their commitment to innovation and technological development.

The mayor noted that the CAETRA program is reinforced with the «Arsenal Line», aimed at the development and application of advanced technologies for the Navy, in collaboration with major national and international technology companies. Additionally, it will continue to grow with other programs, such as a accelerator specialized in artificial intelligence applied to naval submarine technologies with the UPCT as the main collaborator.

The rector of UPCT, Mathieu Kessler, was part of the institutional representation, along with the president of the Port Authority, Pedro Pablo Hernández, and José Miguel Luengo, Mayor of San Javier, where the Air Base and the General Air and Space Academy are located. From the business sector, Miguel Martinez, President of the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce, and Ana Correa, President of the Cartagena Confederation of Business Organizations (COEC), accompanied them.

The CAETRA stand served for the exhibition of the capabilities and latest works of companies in the region such as Mecánicas Bolea, Herjimar, Nanocarbonoids, Qartia Smart Technologies, E-lighthouse Network Solutions, JP Alcaraz Electrónica, AED Vantage, and Octopus Robotics.

Both the companies and the institutional representatives have a busy schedule of interviews and meetings with Spanish and international defense operators.
