La Puebla celebrates the queen of the Campo de Cartagena: the potato. The potato festivities concluded on Sunday with tastings of a myriad of preparations: tortillas, roasted, fried, boiled… A large audience gathered in the Cartagena district in recent days, coinciding with the harvesting season in the municipality’s fields.

The festivities organized by the Cartagena City Council included games and activities for all ages, such as potato throwing into a pot, variety exhibition, trova evening to exalt the potato, market, tapas route through different bars in the area, cooking contests, and even direct sale of products by Cartagena farmers.

Among those attending the festivities were, among others, Agriculture Councilor, José Ramón Llorca, and the Festivities Councilor, Francisca Martínez, along with councilors from the municipal corporation and neighborhood representatives. With the arrival of June, La Puebla now enters into the celebration of its patron saint festivities, in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
