The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, during his appearance to inform the regional government’s position on the bilateral agreement for the unique financing of Catalonia
The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, stated today that the bilateral agreement for the unique financing of Catalonia is «another step in the dismantling of the autonomous state and breaks the principle of solidarity.»
López Miras appeared at the Palacio de San Esteban to report on the regional government’s stance on this bilateral agreement, which he described as «corrupt, illegal, and contrary to the Constitution, breaking solidarity and equality among Spaniards and only serving the personal interest of Sánchez to prolong his agony in La Moncloa.»
As explained by the president, the agreement will grant Catalonia up to 13.000 million euros more from the State’s common fund, while the transfer of income tax collection will mean that this autonomous community will stop contributing 25.000 million euros. He also denounced that «Sánchez accepts that the independence movement decides what taxes the citizens of the Region of Murcia should pay» and warned that «they will not decide for us.»
«We will not allow this abuse»
For the President of the Region, «the harm to the Region of Murcia is as clear as it is unjustifiable and unacceptable because the worst financed regions will be the most affected,» so he announced that «we will not allow this abuse.»
López Miras also recalled that in the last Conference of Presidents, he demanded a reform of the system of regional financing for all Spaniards «without discriminating against anyone.»
